Dave Chappelle's Comedy Code Cracked: Everyone's Fair Game, Except Muslims
In light of Dave Chappelle's new job as a self-appointed biased foreign war journalist attacking Israel, it's high time someone called out Dave for his one-sided hateful rhetoric. Since Chappelle seems to lean left, one might expect at least a proportional vitriolic response from him...maybe some tasteless Hamas terrorist jokes?
YELLOW SPRINGS, OH — Dave Chappelle, the comic maestro, known for his brutal honesty and unsparing wit, has an unexpected gag reflex. And no, it's not from trans-cock which he seems to fetish in his jokes. Chappelle's comedic kryptonite is making fun of his own religion.
It's been a year since Chappelle stated that there are "two words in the English language that you should never say together in sequence: 'The' and 'Jews.'" Plenty of time for self-depreciative reflection. Yet there are still at least a baker's dozen of words that Chappelle doesn't say in his comedy: "Islam, Muslim, Muhammad, Mecca, Quran, mosque, imam, jihad, Ramadan, halal, hijab, nakba, fatwa".
Some might call Dave a hypocritical anti-Semitic scumbag or a two-faced Siamese-twin fusion of the masks of comedy and tragedy. But who would say such things? There are words you should never say together in sequence.
In a recent interview with the Hilarious Hypocrites podcast, journalist Martha 'Mirthless' Mirthmaker kicked Chapelle in his comedic nuts by confronting him as no one else has.
Although Chappelle converted to Islam in 1998, he has conspicuously low-key avoided performing any religious satire pertaining to his chosen faith. "I don't normally talk about my religion publicly because I don't want people to associate me and my flaws with this beautiful thing," he told Time magazine in 2005. Apparently, no other beautiful thingamabob (also known as 'religion') received the memo, as Chappelle regularly roasts Christians, Jews, everyone. Except Muslims.
Mirthmaker challenged Dave's comment by citing the statistic of nearly 50,000 Islamic terrorist attacks in the past 40 years. Chappelle responded with an uncomfortable evasive chuckle, "I count laughs per minute, not whatchamacallits per year!"
In a live show, Chappelle joked "No matter what you do in your artistic expression, you are never ever allowed to upset the 'alphabet people'." An obvious reference to LGBTQIA+. Perhaps hypocritically, Dave is no different by 'not upsetting' Muslims.
Is Chappelle afraid of getting Rushdied or Hebdoed? Esteemed comedy analyst Larry 'Laughter' Lawson mused "The Chapelle Conundrum is curious. He's unafraid to hold a mirror up to society, but when it comes to Islam, he shies away. Maybe he has a case of 'Jihadi jitters'."
In response to Chappelle's selective satire, Pastor Chuckles, a Christian stand-up comedian quipped, "Oh, so it's only a joke when he's not the punchline? Someone tell Dave that his 'faith-check' bounced!"
Chappelle, not one to back down, retorted, "Hey, Pastor, ever heard of turning the other cheek?" Ironically, the joke was on Dave as his hasty humor further emphasized his hypocrisy.
Jewish jester Jeremiah Joshkowitz joked, "Dave boldly discusses everything from woke culture to transgender issues but guards his Muslim identity better than George Soros guards his shekels." The punchline being a clever anti-Semitic retort that Chappelle could appreciate.
Perhaps comedy is only funny when you're not the one being made fun of. But of course that isn't true. What is true is that Dave Chappelle seems to be a pussy, and that ain't a joke. Or maybe it is. As Chappelle might jest, “I love the smell of pussy. Wherever I go I smell pussy. Strange though. Usually I’m alone.”
